ithuania's statement to the international community on international law and the administration of justice. Lithuania. 22 February 2025.

Written by Stasys Paulauskas.

In the face of a real danger to the State of Lithuania and the Lithuanian nation, we propose to the President of the Republic of Lithuania and the Seimas to issue the following statement:

"As a defender of international law and human rights, Lithuania consistently stresses that international justice and responsibility for crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide are essential to ensure global peace and stability. The International Criminal Court (ICC) plays a key role in combating impunity and in ensuring that liability for such crimes is not avoided. Lithuania strongly supports the ICC and calls on all states to comply with their international obligations, including the implementation of ICC resolutions.

We stress that any refusal by the state to cooperate with the ICC and non-compliance with court rulings jeopardises the very foundations of international law and opens the way to impunity. Lithuania calls on countries that refuse to comply with arrest warrants issued by the ICC and to cooperate with this important court to reassess their responsibility towards the international community and to contribute to the guarantee of justice. Lithuania also undertakes to continue to promote education about the importance of international justice in its society and throughout the world to establish the notion that justice cannot be omitted because of politics or geopolitical interests. We call on all parties and citizens to support the work of the ICC and to fight for the justice of the world, which is essential for peace and stability. Only through joint efforts can we ensure that international law is respected and that responsibility for crimes against humanity will be inseparable from the values of peace and democracy."

The purpose of the statement is to highlight Lithuania's obligations to international law and to promote global cooperation so that the resolutions of the ICC are enforced, and international justice is ensured. The statement was generated after consideration and collaboration with ChatGPT's artificial intelligence platform.
