Oppened Wind Energy Info Point

South Baltic Wind Info Point (WEIP) was opened in 18th April 2012 in the office of Innovations Company "Eksponente", Klaipeda, Lithuania. This is one of activities of South Baltic cooperation programme project "WEBSR2 – Wind energy in the Baltic Sea region 2“. Such centres are opening in Sweden, Germany, Poland and Lithuania. In our country WEIP were established in Klaipeda and Kaunas (Lithuanian Energy Institute).

Opening ceremony was held in beginning of project partner meeting. The cover was removed from the centre signboard by project coordinator Dr. Kristina Koebe. Head of the SB programme project "RES-Chains – Sustainable renewable energy chains in South Baltic region” Lennart Tyrberg, coordinator of project “SB-OFF.E.R. - South Baltic Offshore Wind Energy Regions” Mareike Korb and other international partners participated in this event.

Partners of South Baltic programme projects participated also in the exhibition “Individual House Building – 2012”, in 19-22 d.d. in Klaipeda "Švyturio arena", which was visited by more as 27 thousand of people from Klaipeda region and overall Lithuania.

Honour persons of the exhibition - President of Lithuanian Wind Energy Association Dr. Stasys Paulauskas, representative of Rostock municipality Dr. Kristina Koebe, South East Sweden energy Agency project manager Lennart Tyrberg and Vice president of Polish Offshore wind energy Society Marcin Wlodarski congratulated organisers and visitors. The stand “Fascination Offshore” dedicated to promote offshore wind energy of project SB-OFF.E.R. and International Innovations conference “Towards sustainable offshore wind energy in South Baltic” as “Road Show event” were operated during this exhibition.

The purpose of the WEIP – to spread information on matter of wind energy innovation, to organise education, advise businessmen, teachers, public employees, youth, etc. According to project aims, WEIP should operate during five years after project termination in the end of 2012 year. However this isn’t a problem for “Winders”, who are developing wind power in Lithuania and EU from 1993. This is an additional international confirmation of our activity and new obligations.

Seeking to create and develop overall wind energy activities it’s very important to inform society about opportunities of this one of the most important and perspective branches of RES. Near permanently arranging seminars was decided to support and promote business related to wind energy. Production of Lithuanian producers, wind and solar generators, elements and parts will be demonstrating on the mansard of Eksponente in 14th flour.

Working in Siauliai firm "Vėjo fabrikas" installed model of producing 1kW - 15kW wind turbines above the Klaipeda. CEO Lauras Balcevicius could be proud: “Everything is from one hand, in Lithuania, without any intermediaries. Parts are on the storage. We take care for production, installation, connection and service”.

WEIP is ready to take and present to visitors products of other producers wind and solar generators, because we are obligatory to declare – “Made in Lithuania!”

WEBSR2 project partners visit Klaipeda

Strategic Self-management Institute together with then scientific research institutes and local authorities of Coastal regions of Sweden, Germany, Poland and Lithuania are implementing South Baltic programme project WEBSR2 – Wind energy in Baltic Sea region 2 in 2010-2012 years. High international team is continuing project which was executed in 2003-2005 years.

On the meeting in 18-19 April, 2012 in Klaipeda partners overviewed made works – they evaluated success on search problem decisions in three groups: 1) legislative and economical obstacles, 2) lack of techniques and technologies and 3) ideological confrontation. On the ground of experience and achievement of more developed Germany, Sweden and other EU countries there are trying to help local and national authorities of less developed countries – Poland and Lithuania to find efficient methods for development of advanced wind energy.

One of project hypothesis is related to search, improvement and larger use technologies of storage energy produced by wind power stations seeking to sustain and balance energy production, distribution, supply and consumption flows. Hydro pumping, compressed air, flywheels, super capacitors, modern electric batteries energy accumulation and storage technologies will help to avoid negative impact of wind power stations to power grids. Oncoming electric cars will propose very modern and capable car accumulators, which will be used for accumulation, storage and use of electricity produced in wind power stations.

Project enabled to discover very new – artistic branch of use of wind power. Illuminated by LED light diodes blades of wind turbines not only attracts attention and helps artistically to present this new technology, but brighten surroundings with movement and colours, makes the world more colourful and gay (picture). For this aim project partners created and installed wind energy acceptability demonstrators in Rostock, Gdansk and Karlskrona. Project provides and there are establishing Wind Energy Info Points in each partner country. Such Wind Energy Info Centre was opened in 18th April 2012 in the office of Innovations Company „Eksponente“ in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
